Winston-Salem pest control

We are North Carolina's top experts in wildlife and raccoon control. We are not a typical Winston-Salem raccoon control or pest control company. We don't treat wild animals like insects, because they are not! You can't just use poison to get rid of them. You also can't just set a few traps on the ground and call it good. Each situation is unique. And remember, if you have raccoons living in your house, it is almost certainly a female with a litter of young inside. These juveniles must be removed by hand, or they will starve to death and die. And after they are gone, the entry holes into the house must be sealed with professional repairs. Unlike most Winston-Salem pest control, we focus on complete and permanent solutions, by following these steps:

  • Inspect the entire house, ground to roof, and the attic
  • Seal shut all entry areas with professional grade steel
  • If in attic, we remove the baby raccoons by hand
  • Technical and human raccoon trapping appropriate to situation
  • When necessary, we clean raccoon droppings and replace insulation

Winston-Salem Raccoon Control Tip: Would a Raccoon Make a Good Pet?
A raccoon is a rather cute animal. Despite their mischievous nature, their mask and bushy tail make them one of the most easily identifiable and cute animals you will find. Because of how adorable they are, many think that they would make for the perfect pet. So, the question arises, would a raccoon make a good pet?

Ok, We Get It
We understand why you would think a raccoon would make a great pet. They are adorable. The way that they walk, their ringed tales, and that cute little face make them one of the most adorable creatures there is. They are easy to feed, as they eat almost anything, so they seem like they would be the perfect pet.

Somewhat scoff at that. They would say that this is a wild animal, but there are people that have all kinds of wild animals as pets. That includes cobra snakes, tarantulas, even a few people have alligators or mountain lions. Why would a raccoon be more dangerous than that?

A Lot of Reasons to Fear
Well, they may not see more dangerous than a mountain lion, but there are a lot of reasons to fear raccoon. It starts with the fact that these are wild animals. Wild animals are unpredictable. That means that they could be nice to you one moment, then totally freak out the next. This can mean you could be scratched or bitten, maybe even severely.

You have to worry about the way that a raccoon will respond to being in captivity. These animals are quite afraid of human beings, primarily because they see us as predators. They may never feel comfortable around you. An uneasy raccoon is a dangerous raccoon. That is something to keep in mind.

On top of that, raccoons are the carriers of a number of diseases. This includes rabies. As many as 12% of raccoons carry this disease. That means you could bring a raccoon home that could be rapid. This puts you, your family, and your pets and danger.

This is not the only disease this animal carries, however. Raccoons carry parasites, bacteria, and viruses, a number of which could be quite dangerous to you. Unless you have captured or purchased a raccoon and have had it checked by a doctor, you have no idea about the health risks you are putting you and your family in.

It Just Doesn't Make Sense
Because of the potential health risks alone, this is just not a good animal to have as a pet. They are extremely dangerous because they are wild animals. No one has domesticated a raccoon, so you can never be sure exactly how it will respond to you.

In less you are going to keep the animal caged all the time and you have had it thoroughly checked to make sure it doesn't have any diseases, you should not even consider this. It is far too dangerous for you. You'd be better off with the dog anyway.
